This is because most coins might be made of gold or silver. The metal is valuable and this adds to the overall antique value of the coins as well. If you have a local antique shop, it's a good idea to clean the coins and then get a idea of their value from the antique dealer.

There are thousands of online reference sites where you will find pictures and details of antique coins. We suggest you read up as much as possible on antique coins to get an idea of how much they are worth. You can try the Official Red Book to find the value of antique coins.
Check on eBay
eBay is a great place to find authentic coins and offers on them. We do not recommend that you sell your coins online but it can be a great way to get an idea of how much your coin is worth by listing the coins and asking for quotes.
Please note that it's a good idea to find an authentic dealer who will appraise your coins and assign an accurate value to them. Selling your coins will also take anywhere three to six months and you should be patient. Make sure you have a contract and bill of sale ready for the same. It's actually much easier to sell your coins direct to an interested buyer provided you know the correct value of your coins.
